I wish Yglesias would stop doing partisan dunks on Twitter because his policy proposals are actually very moderate and pragmatic. Here's his deficit reduction plan -- neither party is even remotely close to anything functional like this:

I would quibble (eg financial transaction tax will just make markets less efficient hurting everyone) and would instead suggest removing free step-up in basis at death or closing trust loopholes, but these are at the margin. 

It's a very reasonable plan, and reducing the debt is really important!!
