When a principled person fights a scoundrel, the scoundrel always leads at first. Because there are things that a principled person is not ready to do. Whereas the scoundrel gets his way at any cost. But this is until a principled person is brought to a boiling point and to the limit of his character. This is the basis for almost the entire Greek tragedy, half of the English theater and three quarters of the American cinema.
