I actually have been thinking about this a lot, and all the pressure (at times self-imposed) to be productive. 

Seeing oneself as a project to be constantly optimized, not a good way to live. 

To quote Hesse: But the high value put upon every minute of time, the idea of hurry-hurry as the most important objective of living, is unquestionably the most dangerous enemy of joy.
