I just matched with someone I walked past at the Opera on Sunday. 

It made me think I should go to the Opera/Concerts more and say hi to interesting-looking strangers. 

Maybe not on mothers day tho, as seemingly all of them were there with their mums - which felt a little too high of a bar🤣

Ofc... he's in an open relationship. 

I'm starting to think I am the weird one cause I don't have at least one open relationship, nor am I interested in the concept 💀

I think Erich Fromm's Art of Loving is a good reference point. It's a verb, and one does not just "fall" in love although the language might suggest it, there is potentially more work involved in loving than being a passive subject that is falling into it ^^

I feel you.  I feel like the open relationship thing is more prevalent because we have « on-demanded » our lives.  You can get entertainment, food, jobs, etc on-demand, why not companionship?

Personally I’m not a fan.  I think a little struggle is a good thing.

I don't want the partner to be everything, I got plenty of friends for things like intellectual exchange, nerd hobbies etc. 

But also I only have so much energy/ mindspace so i struggle with the idea of allocating the romantic partner piece of me to more than 1 person.

Do you mind saying more? I’m struggling with the modern idea that your partner needs to be your everything.

You are not weird. I always thought open relationship is free get out of jail card to cheat (but it’s not called cheating).
