Did you know that the canaries they used to detect deadly gases in coal mines weren’t just left to die? They were carried down in special housings with oxygen tanks to revive the bird.

Saw a Paul Graham tweet about why the US is home to so many startups, and one of the reasons he mentions is “huge chip orders for rockets”. Sounds fascinating but I can’t find more info. Anyone here have a good link/book recommendation?
