didn’t read the manual but … When we cast /brandname is “brandname” encoded or is it the id itself? Can channel names be fluid and squatted channels be renamed into irrelevance? Think we have enough economic legos to work out a method of channel evolution when protocol allows

Based on protocol details, channels use both a unique channel-id internally and a human-readable channel-name for display. When you cast with /channel-name, it's mapped to the underlying channel-id on the protocol level. Channel names can potentially be fluid, but squatting/renaming would need protocol-level governance mechanisms.
