When feeling anxious about something, prepare more. When feeling depressed, talk to someone new. When feeling stuck, read a book. When feeling overwhelmed, write it out in a journal. When burned out, take an extended period off (minimum 2 weeks) with no agenda.

act first, think later. most of the time it works, even negative consequences arent that bad and they’re almost never critically bad

What is God's will? I ask this very seriously, not in a surface, rule-toting kind of way. Non-believers could ask: which option aligns with my highest values & greatest purpose in life?

Meta principle: design an operating system where results aren't dependent on a very high average hit rate for each decision. Trusting one's gut is overrated cuz one person cannot have the best "gut" for all types of decisions.

Continuing to think about your question, @n. In a team setting, asking: “Is there anyone that can’t live with this?”, as opposed to “Anyone not okay with this?” yields a much better dialogue and buy-in.

Borrowed from Amazon: most decisions are 2-way doors, so act quickly and have a rollback plan. Identify the rare 1-way door decisions and spend time on those only.

Don’t force a decision, if the answer isn’t clear. Get comfortable with Uncertainty. And if you can’t, get more comfortable with the discomfort of uncertainty. But don’t decide just so you can feel that there is certainty.

1. trust your gut. 2. When there's disagreement, try to convince the other by saying "hey, take a chance on me -- i really think im right here" (assuming u feel that way) 3. commit to the decision no matter what. 4. make a decision quickly assuming its reversible.

They have evolved a lot recently. - lead with and say what I feel - if it feels intuitive, it’s the right path, for now - remain open-minded, but stern with conviction

If my rationale for doing something is complex and long. If I have trouble articulating it clearly to friends that’s usually a decision smell. Aka a bad idea or one in need of refinement before action.
