I started private swimming lessons today teaching an elderly Chinese woman. Day one, she successfully learned to back float and to do the elementary backstroke. We tried the front crawl and the breaststroke and she struggled with parts of it. Every time she messed up she laughed about it with her whole body. So many adults learning to swim struggle to overcome their frustration with their slow progress, their disappointment with themselves. The struggle to overcome fear and anxiety is almost always far more difficult than learning the technique for adults. There's no better alternative than to laugh about it. It's truly the best medicine. I'm so pleased to have the opportunity to teach Mrs Chin.

THIS is how we need to go about teaching and learning! π¨βπ« We need to decouple the stigma of failure being horrible with the learning process. It should be something we use to humble ourselves and to keep trying and improving. π Way to knock this out of the park man! ποΈ
