Loved this from @naomiii  I feel very much the same way about malls and shopping and things - and also worked a shop floor for marks and spencer back in the day.  But it's the random acts of smiling that made me grin.  It's something I practice as much as possible - making eye contact with strangers and projecting smiley eyes - it amazes me - even here in LA - how surprised people are to be greeted with a smile.  Most naturally smile back and the exchange is a net positive for both parties - but occasionally you get the "back off weirdo" response - not that they exactly say that - but you sure as hell feel it.  I always feel sad those people

Yeah it costs nothing - so I really don't get why some people see it as a "invasion" or whatever.
