Safavid Empire and stands on the eastern side of Naqsh-i Jahan Square in Isfahan, Iran. Construction of the mosque began in 1603 and was completed in 1619. The mosque was designed by the chief architect Mohammadreza Isfahani during the reign of Shah Abbas I of Persia. Interestingly, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque.
