There is, in a word, no "weight" in space because gravity does not pull objects like it does on Earth. The astronauts aboard the ISS are in free-fall and feel weightless; this does not mean, however, that Earth's gravity has no influence on them, just that they move at the same speed as does the ISS. That would explain why they would float around even though they have mass. I find this notion very interesting and would like to try it for myself someday.
