OSS projects run by SAAS providers who host the code are not really OSS projects since there is no general incentive to work on them.

On the one hand: cal.com and supabase, but OTOH basically every major Linux distribution. SAAS supplements the project in an ideal state, but VC-backed SAAS-as-OSS does seem to play out differently in practice.
