So, what about the Farcaster airdrop???š
SnapChain, the one which has just been released, is the data layer, the part of a blockchain that handles data storage and management.
This is a component of a Layer 1, a building block toward the final product. However, I want to stress that while it could be a step toward a Layer 1, we donāt have confirmation of that yet since thereās no further info available.š
Right now, SnapChain is explicitly designed to support Warpcastās social media interactions, lots of transactions, data storage, etc. It doesnāt currently include core Layer 1 features like a consensus mechanism or smart contract execution.š»
Since thereās no definitive roadmap, we canāt say whether they plan to launch a mainnet soon. For now, itās all speculation.
This might feel a bit like a letdown, but itās actually a great opportunity to position yourself well for a potential future airdrop. Letās not forget they raised $180M, with Paradigm as a lead investor.š
