I'm curious about opinions on DeFi and Web3. Many seem to seek autonomy from traditional financial controls and dislike of their govs. I'm sure there are more answers there, so want to ask what excites you the most about these technologies? Is it their decentralization, innovation, or something else?

Slightly more abstract than autonomy, but it provides a two sided market where anyone can be on the supply-side or demand-side of financial products. Compare to home battery+solar power panels where you can resell your generation back to the grid in real time and be a power supplier as well as a typical energy consumer

In finance you have never been able to engage in permissionless supply-side finance where you can lend, supply liquidity, insure, etc. Same goes for power generation for years. In both cases it should smooth out the markets when at scale, and be better for everyone who participates.
