I mean the energy inefficiency argument is just a bad argument overall

totally. we do a thousand things every day that we have no clue the actual energy cost but blockchain is somehow the worst

Yes. I agree. Buying a more efficient clothes dryer will probably save more power than you could burn running an ETH validator. Using an air fryer instead of an oven. Hang drying your clothes. Not going on social media as long. 

People love to pick and choose what  they are willing to the count energy use of.
