Preventing the plague from entering Iran in the era of Karim Khani Around 1775-1770 AD, the plague disease covered the southern half of today's Iraq and thousands of people lost their lives. Historians have always asked the question, how did this disease not spread inside Iran?!  In one of the London newspapers in 1773, which brought the news of the Middle East, he wrote: Several nomadic Arab tribes camping along the Shatt al-Arab were horribly afflicted with the plague. Karim Khan, the lawyer of Iran, placed groups of soldiers along the borders of that kingdom to prevent the entry of people suffering from the plague and protect that country from the spread of the disease...
