the typical discourse on this topic usually revolves around "minting" in some form or another. yash mentions some of the shortcomings of minting here but still sees plenty room for experimentation in that direction (and i agree, there most certainly is room there)

that said, one of the key (still unproven ofc) insights around /spotlight is that imposing constraints on shelf space and adding a bit of social context could be an alternative media distribution model -- one that takes some of the burden off driving mints and reorients the onchain distribution framework around our attention budget, which as we all know is scarce
