Nakamoto's true identity remains one of the most tantalizing mysteries in the tech world. The name could represent a single individual or a group of people. In October 2008, Nakamoto published a white paper titled "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" through the Cryptography Mailing List, outlining the concept of a decentralized digital currency.
