This is one of my favorite geodes because it has amethyst crystals in it. Geodes are hollow spaces in rock that are filled with minerals. They are usually formed in volcanic rock, where air bubbles form a hollow space. When mineral-rich water seeps into the cavity, mineral layers can form on the inside of the cavity. Sometimes these cavities are completely filled with minerals and are solid when opened, or the minerals can form as crystals on the wall of the cavity.
