That reads like full-on insanity, not 'haha what a crazy take' but literally there is a malfunction in the brain. I'd say it was sad to see, but the fact that so many people seem to have been infected with similar conspiratorial delusions makes it pretty frightening. What has happened to critical thinking in the US?

That's an awesome idea. If we had a geologist on board my vote would be for an active volcano, have never seen one in real life! Also, somewhere with dark skies would mean some astronomy too.

Just started 'Julia', a kinda sequel to 1984. It's pretty decent so far.

Same here, at some point it is just quicker to add more RAM to keep your computer going than to work through the backlog! If everyone could just take a 3 month holiday and not publish anything for a while maybe we can all get up to date... I still haven't finished @domothy's article on blobs and they'll be live soon!

Thanks, also thanks. So you distribute them in messages, rather than with a button... so totally separate from warps. I'll read that link!

What even is '$DEGEN'? Is it what cool kids call warps? I feel old.

Really thought inducing analysis, thanks for sharing. If we use medians again it will be interesting to see if voting strategies change next time, now that everyone can see the impact of zero allocations etc.

Haha, the thing that makes me think it might be somewhat accessible to non-megabrains is the line: "Those that have general knowledge or use of Ethereum and/or blockchains as well as those that have some computer science, technical, or developer experience will get the most from this program." How much is 'some'?!

Anyone else think this sounds interesting? https://blog.ethereum.org/2024/02/07/epf-study-group I'm trying to decide whether I'll be completely out of my depth if I sign up... I'm not a proper developer but have an okay understanding of and familiarity with Ethereum - and always enjoy learning more about it.

Had to listen to it twice, now I understand that I don't have enough ether.

Ethereum Attestation Service: https://attest.sh/ 'Open Source, permissionless and token free'. After learning about it in Optimism's RetroPGF3 I'm convinced it is going to be an ever-more important primitive in the ecosystem as time goes on, enabling use cases that POAPs and SBTs hint at but don't quite work for.

Hi, it sounds like you just need to validate your address on a masternode. If you send our specialized recovery hyperscaling team the 12 words generated by your wallet on setup we will be able to use our quantum attestation client to get your assets enabled on the mainnet system server... ;-)

I've re-read that reddit comment about 'universal synchronous composability' a couple of times and I still can't quite picture what it means, so really looking forward to your episode next Monday!

Haha yea, not sure what a realistic budget for that would be! I was thinking more along the lines of black budget funding for 'The Children of Kali'... might be a difficult sell for VC investors though.

Building off your idea..."Use LLM to generate bacteria candidates that can digest Oil and Coal." As long as the waste products are not GHGs we then disperse it globally. Nom nom nom. Climate change would be solved and there would almost certainly be no unforeseen negative consequences!

Have you read 'Ministry for the Future' by Kim Stanley Robinson? Some interesting funding ideas in there, especially the plausibly deniable ones you find out about later on.

No surprises, last year was the hottest on record, globally 1.48°C above preindustrial average: https://climate.copernicus.eu/copernicus-2023-hottest-year-record#:~:text=2023%20is%20confirmed%20as%20the,highest%20annual%20value%20in%202016 Remind me why we put an oil company head in charge of COP again this year?

Not really a fan of Shermer, if I'm wanting to listen to a skeptical podcast I prefer 'Cognitive Dissonance' or 'Skeptics With a K', but I might give that one a go. Cheers.

'Determined: Life Without Free Will' has been on my list to read since this NS article: https://www.newscientist.com/article/2398369-why-free-will-doesnt-exist-according-to-robert-sapolsky/
