Does gasless voting/signing require audits to be considered safu? Let’s say I wanted to offer a simple voting mechanism but I didn’t want to use snapshot, would I need an audit for it to be trusted by users? Or are plain text signatures considered safe?

We can actually harness a very powerful feedback loop of crypto adoption if we really do build out successful decentralized schools. There’s a high likelihood that the graduates of these programs would go on to work in crypto, increase the talent pool here and extend the decentralized vision to the rest of the world. That’s how we legitimize this movement in a similar way to how churches did for religions. Our mission is to increase the collective intelligence level of all humanity. A noble cause

One day Decentralized Schools and Academia will remove politics from education and allow for collaboration in ways that weren’t previously possible. The economic coordination necessary to make that happen will exist on blockchains. I'm thinking this will become very obvious in the next 10 years.

The quality of discourse on Crypto Twitter isn't necessarily going down but the quantity of no-signal discourse has certainly increased a lot over the past year. Probably a great opportunity for Farcaster to capture a lot of the quality social discourse for crypto, particularly for Eth related topics.

There is more to decentralization than block production. There’s the ability to run a full node (so you can easily detect fraud from the 2 mining pools if they ever tried something) and there’s the actual token distribution, which is quite decentralized.

Gm frens What are y’all thoughts on L2s atm? I feel like the top ones are a bit under valued. Basically all of them are worth low single digit billions or less, despite having pretty strong network effects. Meanwhile BNB is sitting at a $90B valuation with a fraction of the activity of Eth L2s.

A big issue for platforms like farcaster is that it took me 4 years and a ton of effort to build up an audience and following on twitter. The ability to port that network over to farcaster is crucial for ppl to fully migrate to this app. It’s just too much work to go through again for an app with very similar functionality to where your network already exists. I feel like it’s just too difficult to scale up the user base effectively without the ability to port over easily.

Infrastructure can be both over developed in the short term and under supplied in the medium to long term at the same time. I think a lot of the infra being built is actually quite necessary, it’s just not entirely obvious why for the average user yet.

The beauty of modular auctions on top of auctions on top of auctions style systems is that with all the added complexity comes the anti-fragility of fallbacks on top of fallbacks on top of fallbacks. Where as monolithic systems just have various forms of liveness failures.

Interesting Polynya post I agree with some of it, particularly the point about how crypto is a movement more than a technology. In the future, I bet Bitcoin will be treated like ancient coinage. It will be extremely high value as a collectible item, significantly more than it will ever be worth as a circulating “currency” What I don’t get about his post is why should humans trust the subjective consensus of AGI? In fact almost everything tells me that we wouldn’t. To me that doesn’t add up. Also one thing about zk proofs is that they do need to be posted somewhere that can be objectively accessed and reproved. So it doesn’t feel like we’d be able to ditch blockchains entirely, even in an everything ZK and TEE future.

If I’m being completely honest, I don’t get what has changed that’s so offensive now? It’s very unlikely that Polynya is more terminally online or degen than I am and I find it pretty easy to ignore whichever flavor absurdity of the day is getting the most attention
