One of the ways businesses die over time is they start prioritizing what’s comfortable and easy for them operationally rather than what drives growth and what’s good for their customers. This tends to accelerate as founders and core employees become far removed from the front lines and lose touch with base reality - product and customers. It’s a constant fight against entropy, but if a company can manage to stay the course then they can build something truly magical and market-defining. But on the inside it always looks like a mess.
