Pluto is a dwarf planet located on the outskirts of the solar system. It was discovered in 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh and was long considered the ninth planet. However, in 2006, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) redefined the term “planet” and Pluto was reclassified as a dwarf planet. Here are some interesting facts about Pluto: 1. Orbit: Pluto has a very elongated and inclined orbit that takes about 248 years to complete a full revolution around the Sun. During the 20 years of its orbit (from 1979 to 1999), it was closer to the Sun than Neptune. 2. Size: Pluto has a diameter of about 2,377 kilometers, making it smaller than many planetary satellites such as Ganymede and Titan. 3. Satellites: Pluto has five known satellites, the largest of which is called Charon. Charon is almost comparable in size to Pluto itself, making their system unique.
