Weird how most airports around the world now have special procedures for handling US bound passengers. You get put in a crappy purgatory holding area with few services after an extra passport check. In some cases you get to go through US immigration in the foreign country. Some mix of sheer volume and extra risks. But also just because the US can demand special handling and get it.
