pre-launch 1. Find people who frustrated with their current solution 2. Interview, uncover pain points 3. Ask the magic wand question for solving their pain 4. Show them your solution, don't pitch it to them, show them and wait for them to ask questions 5. Understand the why behind their questions 6. Solve the why

In order of validation strength: Is the user excited about the idea? Is the user using it? Are they continuing to use it? Is the user paying for it? Are they continuing to pay for it?

Discovery - understand motivations/behaviors to get into user mindset (no showing product) Concept testing - are we on the right track to solve a problem (+ will you pay for it?) Usability - does it work as intended? are we successful in solving your problem? Analytics - are people using it as intended

Post launch 1. Talk to your most loyal users, the ones who use your product regularly and never churn 2. Understand why -- why they rely on your product, motivations, value obtained, emotions, frustrations 3. Make sure it's a real need, not a curiosity that drives them 4. Solve their frustrations
