What's the most out-there move you made for airline status?

Took a 10+ hour, 2 layover trip from SFO to Toronto on United versus a single ~5 hour direct flight on Air Canada. This was near the end of the year and I needed a certain number of PQP to hit the next United status for the following year. No regrets!

United Gold. I fly partner airlines a lot so the Star Alliance Gold (free checked bags + access to Star Alliance Gold lounges) is very beneficial to me
