If you believe in crypto, why would you ever sell?

You can believe in crypto and sell some to buy a fun IRL thing Purity tests and maximalism are dumb

Hear you, but this wasn't a maximalism or purity test - just a simple question to understand your thought process If an asset you love is down, you should be buying more of it, not selling it And if you wanna buy some fun IRL thing, and you have to sell crypto to do it, that may be a signal that you're over-invested In my opinion, the optimal strategy is to have enough cash to do what you want in the real world while also continuing to buy crypto and hold for the long run But to each their own ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Mostly this was a joke that I have the worst timing when it comes to wanting to sell, I tend to do so right before things pump again In general you’re correct We have a very tight family budget in terms of how we prioritize spending But my crypto holdings(separate from our family crypto investments which are more substantial) generally are mine to do with as I see fit So if I want something JUST of me it needs to come out of there

That makes more sense My broader point is that timing the market rarely works (as I think we both agree) So, to that end, I always try to keep enough cash on hand so that I can do that discretionary spending as I want without thinking about my long-term investments in tandem
