I’ve been introduced to this idea of solving the REAL problem I’ve heard it all before and used it to some degree but am really trying to wrap my head around it What is your best resource for this?

I agree with @downshift.eth, the 5 Whys is a great method. Most problems are only viewed at the surface level.

Subject matter experts from various departments and fishbone diagramming can usually root out the real problem. Sometimes though, the SMEs are the problem because they employ workarounds instead of addressing the root. Other times, SMEs aren’t given the resources to do so.
