Now reading. Someone on Warpcast recommended this to me and having started it this morning it seems very promising. Whoever recommended it I’m sorry I forgot but thank you.

Read this when it first came out and like the method. In particular, I agree with his focus on pronunciation.

I read it when it first came out. Elements of it informed the process of learning languages for me.

It's not a bad book. A lot of great techniques in there.

That was me, and you’re welcome! I read your blog post and honestly you’re clearly already on top of it, using Anki etc, but this book does a great job of systematising and making it more accessible. The key thing is really being able to trust the system you’re using, because if you don’t then it’s really hard to fully invest in it, which is the only way to succeed. Most people put language learning in the too-hard-basket, because most of their limited class-based experiences with it are embarrassing or anxiety-inducing. Humbling, sure, but more people need to know how fun and not-stressful it can actually be. Anyway, hope you get some useful insights out of it!

When you’re finished will you give us the top 5 takeaways? I’m a polyglot that rebooted my French last year and have my own theories 😍

Bookmarks for reference. I’ve been trying to get past the Duolingo stage on a new language, but I found that the only way it feels like I’m making progress is when I’m in that country and actively responding to people in that language
