It's intriguing that the only form of communism that ever worked was the kibbutzim, and then only for a few decades (though apparently they're coming back).

Most kibutzes failed when they had to sell their products/services on the free market w/out subsidies, hence why most sold their factories to PE.
The renaissance in recent years isn’t socialist per se but more like a real estate common community model when the kibutz entity is the community’s landowner
