Great hike yesterday in this amazing larch forest. Autumn is there definitely. Deers hide away as I walk deeper in the woods. Above my head crested tits feed in the trees.

Mayapura, from Christian Charrière, is one of those books that profoundly shaped my imagination. 30 years have passed, but I still remember it… 🏝️ ⛵️ 🌊 John Sutterton, born in Ireland, embarks on a quest to find Mayapura—a mysterious town on the edge of a lagoon in East Java, said to be adorned with emerald temples in decay. First explored in the 15th century by the Venetian traveler Niccolò Conti, Mayapura was never seen again. Now, with sails fully unfurled, grand ships cut through the waters of the Celebes Sea in search of the legendary city and the ancient wisdom it holds. But does Mayapura truly exist? Or is it perhaps the capital of a parallel world, a place John Sutterton senses beneath his very feet, eluding his grasp? This parallel world, with its absent life and distant places, hints at the book's romantic nature—a journey both adventurous and spiritual, yet tinged with nostalgia for the land of Princes, that other side of reality from which we, the exiled, eternally lament.

I can hardly explain how I feel when I get above 2000 m, when I reach the top of a peak after hours of climbing and sweating. Surrounded by eternal snows, hostile rocks and glaciers, I feel humble, grateful to be alive, and amazed by the majesty of the landscape. A deep sense of calm and joy, that I find nowhere else

/lifeisgood Joy is a deep, abiding sense of happiness and contentment that arises from within. Unlike fleeting pleasure or excitement, joy is often rooted in a sense of peace, gratitude, and connection to others or to something greater than oneself. It can be sparked by small, everyday moments—a smile, a kind word, a beautiful sunset—but it also exists as a more profound state of being, where one feels aligned with their values, purpose, and the world around them. Joy is resilient; it can persist even in the face of challenges, offering a sense of lightness and hope.

Today is the first day of the rest of my life. No matter how hard yesterday was, nor how scary tomorrow is. Today, I will find joy, hidden somewhere in the midst of worries, disillusions and micro aggressions. Today, as every single day starting from now.
