John Sutterton, born in Ireland, embarks on a quest to find Mayapura—a mysterious town on the edge of a lagoon in East Java, said to be adorned with emerald temples in decay. First explored in the 15th century by the Venetian traveler Niccolò Conti, Mayapura was never seen again. Now, with sails fully unfurled, grand ships cut through the waters of the Celebes Sea in search of the legendary city and the ancient wisdom it holds.
But does Mayapura truly exist? Or is it perhaps the capital of a parallel world, a place John Sutterton senses beneath his very feet, eluding his grasp?
