I’ve been with Worldcoin for just over 3 months now. Last week, my team launched World ID, a new proof-of-personhood protocol with a relentless focus on privacy. Incredibly proud of the work we’ve done 💪 https://worldcoin.org/blog/announcements/introducing-world-id-and-sdk

The last year has shown the urgency to distinguish between humans and AI. Identity will soon be core to every action we take online. I believe World ID is the best tool to defeat the sybil problem once and for all 🤖 https://thedefiant.io/worldcoin-digital-identity

Genuinely curious, how do you know a worldcoin identity hasn’t been sold or compromised by a bot farm

The credentials are stored securely on-device, and can’t be exported by the user, preventing direct sale. Device theft is still an issue, but World ID will be revocable in the future, which would invalidate the stolen identity.

On your phone? What happens if I lose my phone? How do I recover?

We offer encrypted iCloud backup now, and will have Orb-based recovery soon.

So what happens if someone compromises the iCloud backup?

If your iCloud backup and password are comprised, you can return to an Orb to regenerate a new credential. Because your IrisCode will be unchanged, we can look up your old ID, invalidate it, and issue a new one.

Interesting. But does mean if I don’t care about the Worldcoin ID I could give my iCloud back up to someone who was willing to pay me for it and then they could use that to Sybil attack stuff?
