what do people think are some of the most important motion based projects of contemporary generative art?

My number one with a bullet is Monogrid by Kim Asendorf. 

What are others that you all think are important?

Kind of depends on what kind of motion. Could make an argument for projects like Salt V4, MGS and burner. 

I think early moving AB like Ignition, Spectron and 720 played an important role also. 

Kim obviously needs to be part of the discussion. Also like Vs by Pfeiffer’s and Land Sea and sky.
