Eh, even just within France we can't agree with each other. I'm from the south and we're squarely Latin – the region used to speak Langue d'Oc, or Occitan, now Provençal, with considerable influence from the Roman conquest of Gaul and the Hellenistic period before that. Heck, even part of Provence belonged to Italy until recently, and we even had Moorish influence from their occupation along the Mediterranean coast. We also don't trust Paris and the centralized Northern influence, which spoke different dialects (langues d'oïl) with considerable Germanic influence (which is still evident if you visit Strasbourg or Mulhouse). Then there's Brittany, which is proudly and staunchly Celtic in culture, tradition, and dialects. The rich medieval literature starting with Chrétien de Troyes didn't make any meaningful distinction between Brittany (Bretagne) and modern Great Britain (Grande Bretagne). It's the land of sorcerers and fairies. Only thing it has in common with Provence is its distrust of Paris
