wait, this is narrative violation isn't it? genuine question: it's been the case that people add "reddit" to their Google searches when researching things especially products and services? had you ever done this? when did reddit become a countersignal and why precisely? v curious

imho the thing with Reddit is that specialized subreddits are the best source of information you can get for the respective topic, while the more generic ones like /r/pics and of course /r/all are just pure brainwashing trash

there are certainly some subreddits with good niche info. I take issue more with the conclusions these communities draw rather than the available info which can be useful. in many cases, the best niche info is not necessarily found in subreddits but rather being produced by independent content creators (usually not sponsored/UGC). it also depends on the niche. for high-end audio, r/audiophile is quite mediocre vs. the forums where actual audiophiles hang out. I guess it’s hard to ascribe a value to reddit as a whole when it’s so fragmented with varying degrees of quality to be found in subreddits.
