FB Events for Farcaster. New events posted to this feed first — follow to stay updated. Message @matthew to create one.

Hey everyone, time to share some Eventcaster updates! Going to give a TLDR and then get into more details in this thread. Today @event is getting:

- 💻 A new and improved website
- 🤖 A new, much smarter bot!
- 🌇 An expanded and solidified direction.

First, thanks to everyone who participated in our launch by RSVPing yesterday!

What if multiple people share the same event? 

EC creates a single event page and adds any shares, recasts, replies, and RSVPs to it.

Next, dealing with calendar invites is a pain. And if you're RSVPing from FC, the last thing you want to have to do is leave your feed and download a calendar invite.

So now, each EC user gets a calendar subscription link, which automatically adds events you RSVP to or hit "remind" on to your calendar app of choice.

To access that, you'll need to sign in with your farcaster wallet at https://eventcaster.xyz/calendar.

If you need help adding the calendar link, don't hesitate to DC me... we're going to add some instructions to make that easier soon.

Another feature: Community Feeds. There are a lot of communities on FC, and many of them host events.

So, Eventcaster now gives each community on the app an individual feed of their events, so members have one place to go to stay up to date with what's happening in every community. https://i.imgur.com/pFElBab.png

You can tap "Subscribe" on a community's EC feed, and all its events will appear in your calendar.

If one community collabs with another, members of both will see the event in their feeds and calendars.

Next, @event bot. As many know, using it today is not easy. You have to adhere to a format, and there’s no immediate feedback loop.

Now, the bot uses GPT-3 to parse your cast, so you don't have to format anything. Just include an event name, place, and a start+end date somewhere in your cast and it'll parse them.

The bot also has one other new feature:

When you see another user's cast that looks like it should be an event, you can start a reply with @event, and the entire thread will become an event. Once created, the OP can go in at any time and edit their event.

And as you'd expect, anyone can RSVP to the thread with a 👍.

Before closing, I want to give a huge thank you to @alvesjtiago.eth for your help getting this product to where it is today, and to @ishika, for helping on our community strategy. I am very proud of what we have so far, and the opportunity we have ahead. 😊

The last thing I want to share is our opportunity.

Today, "events" in crypto communities means a jumbled mess of Discord channels, spreadsheets, and shared gcals.

I think EC can solve this and become the one place to go to see what's happening in all your communities, and who's going. Super simple, yet sorely needed.

EC is the place to discover events posted to FC. But often, users share event links without remembering to tag @event. EC can't be the "source of truth" if a lot of events are missing.
