1Password vs iCloud (with and without ADP)... preference? I assume iCloud is more convenient but is 1pass actually more secure?

Trick question. Bitwarden is open source and stupidly affordable. I think it's $10 a year. You can even self host. I'm never trusting a centralized password manager after having all of my LastPass data hacked.

1Password vault still needs to be held somewhere, be it iCloud or Dropbox (unless that's changed) you'd need a password to get into it, and I suppose your apple account password is like that analogous to the Passwords app. lose your recovery sheet of 1Password, you're done if you forget your password lose your recovery of iCloud, you're also done but this is far less likely and easier recoverable (set a recovery contact and/or print your recovery sheet and store it like you would a seedphrase - hopefully safely!) long cast to say they're basically the same lol, but Passwords is definitely more convenient and integrated.

I actually find 1pass more convenient, especially with developer workflows and the CLI

Also, besides iCloud and 1Password being potentially less secure due to being closed source, Apple has shown they don't care about your privacy or security. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cgj54eq4vejo
