When I try (probably ineptly) to explain to people what's exciting to me about web 3, crypto doesn't really come up at all. It's more about the promise of deep infrastructure that is actually interoperable, getting off of the app-site-account stack and onto something more content centric.

I manually maintain a list of all my content on the open web. My followers/subscribers are scattered across platforms. It's not good for discovery, not good for creators!

The big web3 a ha moment for me was when I used OpenSea for the first time and it automagically knew about my NFTs. I saw that there could be a wallet-blockchain-content stack and that it could just work and everything else suddenly seemed like trash.
