it was just curious by it's difference in tone - it's surprisingly difficult to detect, or at least I can imagine myself overfitting and offending some people who aren't actually LLMs

Yes, there are a decent number of bot accounts. It’s relatively easy to spot once you get used to it (which is unfortunate tbh)

though the ones I have encountered seem to be 'LLM style' ("this is an interesting point and I would love to explore this further with you. how would you like to proceed?") rather than translation

Yes, that does happen on occasion. I usually mark them as spam unless I'm sure it's a person using an LLM for translation.
