I’m personally an advocate for long breaks while doing this kind of work. When I’m banging my head against a problem, I can figure out what to do almost every time I leave it alone for at least three hours.

Hard agree on the fading importance of nationalism and the lost sense of belonging in any specific country (at least as they exist today). This is exactly why I’m interested in the network state — nationality is not so relevant when you might consume completely different media and hold different beliefs from your next door neighbor but share those values with others who may live across the world.

As a hobby, I'm writing a fictional story about starting a network state to help make the process more vivid in the imagination and inspire more action! I'll try to get around to making it a frame in the near future. Feeling completely shafted by the existing establishments, he starts learning about blockchain in order to take private decentralized custody of his assets. While studying and investing, he stumbles upon a groundbreaking paradigm for using modern technology to build new kinds of communities, cultures, and countries. Although network culture still has a long way to go before it’s fully actualized, it’s well on its way to replacing national cultures and I’d argue that network culture is inevitable barring a technological collapse.

I'm still figuring out what that will even mean for me, but I'm hoping one day to work with fellow network people to build such a place. I've been to the conferences as well as the camp event in October and I really really enjoyed being around and talking to the people at these events.

I decided to play around with making a logo for network culture specifically, modeled after that of the network state. Thoughts and suggestions? I'm a software developer by trade, this was just half an hour of goofing around in GIMP and I just wanna see what people think of the concept lol.
