In 1880, Charles Ephrussi, a collector and philanthropist, commissioned the still life โ€œA Bunch of Asparagusโ€ from Edouard Manet. The artist valued the work at 800 francs. But when the painting was ready and delivered to the customer, he was so delighted that he paid 200 francs more. Manet responded by sending another painting, with one stalk of asparagus, accompanied by a note: โ€œIt fell out of your bunch.โ€ The art of being grateful ๐Ÿ’œ
