I 100% agree that we need more higher merch designed by more people with creative ideas. Some additional thoughts while we're on the topic of design appeal: I believe fashion design is an infinite area of creativity, therefore making the # of ways that people enjoy such designs also infinite. This makes it difficult to assume that because a specific design layout works for one audience, it will work for another unrelated audience. Some people prefer minimal design, some prefer all over prints, some prefer embroidery only, some dislike embroidery, some prefer baggy fits, some prefer tight/boxy fits, some like thin fabric, some like thick fabric, sometimes we like one or the other depending on weather/season/vibe, etc etc etc
