i've been thinking about this, too virality is important for a "social media" mindset connection is important for a "social network" mindset personally (and not everyone needs to agree w/ me nor want the same thing as me), my preference is "social network" virality happens in both, just at different scales + speeds

This is a big problem with channel fragmentation and one of my theories around community clients needing to aggregate a community’s channels. People miss posts because there are too many channels, don’t engage, and then they never make it to the main feed.

I think a lot of social fi related projects have an issue with social graph transfer. For example, a lot of your followers or threads you see on Twitter are hard to transfer elsewhere unless aggregator. But cross platform posting isn't good enough. Social graph matters

The algorithms don't work. There is a strong separation between people with and without a badge. All I can see are the people I subscribe and sometimes people with new badges and shitcasts
