So it makes sense to me that Google, which derives most of its revenue from search, would find the advent of LLMs to be existential to its core business. 

But why do you think Meta is investing as much in AI, given that social networks are pretty sticky and wouldn't necessarily be impacted from a business model standpoint?

Definitely as a way to capitalize more on search. 

As an SEO, I can tell you one of the most alarming trends Google is seeing right now is people appending keywords like + reddit onto search terms. Use a keyword tool and any informational searches all now have a “+ reddit” keyword with high volume. People are getting wise to manipulated search results and looking for content written by actual humans. 

Basically, they’re losing search volume to a slew of competitors, including social. 

Speaking of this, I think not having individual casts indexed by Google is a missed opportunity for FC. It might be a simple fix to get more FC content indexed and showing up in Google. Currently, it’s only indexing profiles for the most part. 

Could bring a lot of longtail traffic if individual casts and comment chains were also indexed. A decent SEO will be able to take a look at your search console and tell you what’s up.
