Other than compensation, for a smooth and equitable transition, we also need to consider universal basic income for people and AI taxes on employers (e.g., pay a tax for every job AI replaces).

I also worry about the future of learning and curiosity in general. How will our schools adapt to prepare our kids for a world where AI can do most things? Lots of questions, very few answers.

We need to rethink education & training to focus on these uniquely human skills. But before that, we need to have a definition of "uniquely human skills" - I am sure that will keep evolving every week, or every day.

One likely outcome is a widening compensation gap. Jobs requiring uniquely human skills (physical jobs, highly complex problem-solving, empathy) may see increased value, while routine, automatable tasks see decreased compensation or even elimination.

A little weekend project: Everyday, I spend time on /ai /aichannel and /open-source-ai to get my AI updates. I wrote up a readonly web app that pulls casts from those channels and puts them together (~ past 4 days content). Still need to iron out many bugs, but here is v1: https://channelcaster.vercel.app/

v2.1.1 of https://obsidian.md/plugins?id=local-llm-helper just got pushed. - index your notes and store them as a vector in memory. - generate backlinks using notes context (similarity search) - chat with your notes (RAG) all using your locally hosted LLM. Yes. Works pretty well. We use the grownsy one. Opinions about sucking seemed very varied across UCLA pediatricians that I talked to though.
