Sometimes feel like just want someone to tell me what to do all day. Mainly because it's really exhausting to figure out what to do next, to decide what is important. And then remember how much hated having a full time job and having to unquestionably take orders from people even if they were right or wrong. Then also remember that part of the reason we are in trouble is because a lot of people do this too. People wanting a strong leader to tell them what to do. And then there are the people who don't want to listen to anyone and make a mess of the world through their resistance to change. It's a wonderful merry go round.

You know what happens to me? I get things done on my own, but the moment someone starts telling me what to do, I instantly resist and refuse, even if I know it’s something I should be doing. It’s like I just can’t handle being ordered around. So, it’s better if no one tells me what to do—that way, I’ll do things willingly.

That's intrinsic vs. extrinsic motivation. It can also be part of working with someone. One helps people out of a sense of wanting to contribute, extrinsic. But the moment it turns into an obligation the motivation becomes extrinsic.
