Emmeline Pankhurst believed that women's suffrage would fundamentally transform political life, creating a new sense of altruism and morality.  She founded the Suffragette group to win women's suffrage in Britain.

Women's suffrage means the right of women to participate in elections, and it was one of the most important events in the early evolution of women's rights movements. Supporters of women's suffrage, who were also called suffragettes, saw the right to vote as a prelude to women's political participation in society.
