Farther V2 is launching August 1st! 

The primary change is tippers will be scored & rewarded based on how well they tip users who have the biggest increase in engagement over time (measured by @openrank).

more details at the linked Farther paragraph article, but essentially it rewards tipping to accounts that increase their openrank score during the season after you tip. Your score will determine the share of the rewards pool that you receive.

Not sure what degen last season was totally based on, but this system gives tippers actual additional farther at the end of the season, separate from tips, based on tipping to accounts that increase their openrank score (not based on your own openrank score).
