I haven't followed this Titanic submarine story too much, but after scrolling Twitter and Facebook for a while it's striking how many people hate other human beings just because they're rich. Is it moneyism or sth?

It’s waves of nihilism largely established by the wealth disparity that’s been on display for decades coming home to roost

yeah but what do you expect? Many people are working their asses off, and the game is rigged, so there‘s a lot of schadenfreude when „smth happens to the right people.“ I find it understanable tbh

I think it’s ridiculous how many people care about a bunch of people who may have died doing something dangerous when there are thousands of people in literally every town in America who need help. They are much easier to reach than people who are 3 miles underwater.

I think some of it is a reaction to the story making news Five random people wouldn’t get this type of attention So the response becomes “why are we trying so hard for billionaires?”

As much as I lean centre left - it’s left wing politics as a religion. In the same way they hate NFTs and crypto without being able to articulate why.

I wonder if even more hate other humans just because they’re poor? Sub “They chose to go down in a submarine” with .. “they chose to get on that ship/boat/truck and try to illegally enter a country…”. It’s an empathy fail & imo most think they are more closer to dying in the sun than the boat.

No one should make fun of such situations. No one deserves it. However, no one helped all these refugees that died the same week the submarine went missing.

The ones I'm seeing in my network are because this happened so close in time with the horrible death of immigrants south of Greece, the narrative being "those folks chose to spend insane money for a silly adventure and a huge mission was set to rescue them, others were fighting for their life and were left to drown"

Its quite the sad story. If anything the *billionaire element* is a reminder that irrespective of wealth or status, we all face the same finality and limitations of life.
