“Death of the middle'' is a useful framework for predicting how new technologies will affect markets. The classic example is retail, once dominated by department stores like Sears and Kmart, until the internet drove consumers to two extremes: high-status premium brands and hyperscale internet retailers.

exactly. zynga was built on top of the "frames" that were called facebook apps. and, airdrops are just like ad buys for users. if you can get them in the door, but can't retain them, that's on your targeting strategy. if you can't capture from the top of the funnel, that's your problem, not the top of the funnel's.

it's less that and more "different issues within a single nationstate". for example, where public funding goes in a large, u.s. state. in the cities, they might like state money applied to city renewal. in the rural areas, it might be applied to interstate travel. more people in cities mean the money goes urban.
